My 1 year old silkie “fancy” has a prolapsed vent. I’ve read & followed the instructions to bath her for 15 mins in warm water with Epsom salts. I’ve applied prep H & gently pushed the vent back in. Now I’ve watched her repeatedly for 3 days. The minute I set her down she strains & pushes real hard & out it comes!!! She has laid up until yest, nothing today yet. What do I do? She is seeming happy? Can she survive like this? Any more help would be great? Thank you

I've read to use Preparation H to help shrink the tissues and to continue to push it back in. I only had one hen prolapse and we eventually culled because we couldn't keep it in either, and she had frostbite damage on hers. Other species would get a stitch to hold everything in but in chickens that can't be done.

They say to give it a few days to weeks, and to keep at it. Keep her separated so the tissue doesn't get pecked, and watch that it doesn't dry up. Good luck, hopefully yours is better than mine was.
