I have a hen who I noticed 3 days ago had a prolapse with a bit of crust on it. I soaked her in Epsom salt and warm water. I sprayed vetericyn on it and slathered clotrimazole on it. I can never get any of the hard scab off and if I touch it, she freaks out. I am not sure what I can do to help her because it doesn't seem to be going down at all. She is active and vocal, her normal self.

A couple months ago I had another hen who had this issue but I didn't catch hers as early as this hen and she ended up passing, I want to make sure that doesn't happen to this hen.

Keep the prolapse coated with oil, honey or an ointment, don't let it dry out.

Mineral Oil can often help loosen dried on urates.

Has she been expelling any material like Lash Eggs?

Give her Extra Calcium daily too. 1 Calcium Citrate+D3.

I have not seen a lash egg at all. She hasn't been laying either. Took a break for winter but hasn't started back up again.

So sorry to hear about the prolapse 😞
you may not want to hear my option-

I am of the opinion that once a hen has a prolapse she will have another. For this reason when I have a hen who prolapse’s I despatch her, I feel it is kinder in the long run with the strong possibility that her sisters may see it before you next time.

Just my opinion,
Big hugz
