Prolapse

Chirping
Hello! I noticed my sweet girl had a big red ball coming out of her bottom and found that it is a prolapse Rectum. 15 minutes later her butt looks normal... (a few hours later still looks normal). she is eating and drinking and begging for treats! She is being a bit mouthy lately but I figured she was going to start laying (she is 5 months and has not laid yet). She’s been squating when she sees me which I read was a sign of submission (we have no roosters). Right now she seems uncomfortable and is hanging out in her hen box. I can see her bottom puckering or like trying to do something but no prolapse showing, butt looks normal- pink with some pine chips stuck to it lol) Any advice? I am not worried about the other girls bothering her, as she is the top of the pecking order, a sweet and bossy girl! TIA

Try giving her have you tried giving her some calcium/crush up tums?
You can put the crushed up tums
Over a bit of scrambled egg or if in large enough chunks, pop the pieces into her beak.
If you have any calcium available, like Caltrate you can give her one of those instead. By giving the Calcium for a few days, this will help with contractions and retention of her reproductive system which in turn, will help to keep the prolapse in.
You will want to check her for a retained or soft shell egg that might be stuck.

Poultry vitamins would also be a good idea.
Hope this helps her.

I will try this- thank you! So... even if she had prolapse it can go away? Or stay inside? Sorry if that’s silly, I still need to research prolapse more. I never saw it again after that one time and she was in good spirits the rest of the day
