When I went out to close up the coop tonight, one of my girls didn’t look right. She was standing up on the roost and was fluffed up and hunched over, similar to the position they have when they’re pushing out an egg. Her back end looked a little bloody and as I looked further, I discovered she has a prolapsed vent/egg binding, but the egg is OUTSIDE her body, fully encased in her oviduct tissue. She’s in obvious pain, so I didn’t want to disturb things too much without knowing what exactly I should do, but I did gently move her into a large dog crate with an old blanket because I’m afraid of the other chickens pecking at her poor back side.
I know the normal remedy for a prolapse is to clean with warm water, lubricate, and then gently ease it back in, but I can’t go pushing the egg back in since it would likely break. Vet is closed and won’t open again until Tuesday due to the holiday. Our nearest emergency vet is a 3.5 hour drive, which isn’t an option right now. Anyone know if/how I can fix this?

If the egg is incased in the prolapsed tissue, it may be hard to fix and the outcome may not be too bright, just so you know.

If you can find the opening and get the egg out, that would be ideal, but unfortunately, the vagina inverts when an egg is laid, so usually it's inverted when prolapsed with an egg.

Keep the exposed tissue moist so nothing dries out while you are figuring out what to do. A bit of coconut oil, honey, prep h, whatever you have to just keep that tissue moist.

Get some Calcium into her and keep her hydrated as well.

In the video, she was able to get the egg out, but there was a follow up video later and the hen ultimately did not survive.
There's always risk when you treat a bird yourself. Even with a vet, there's risk involved as well.
