Prolapsed Vent HELP

Did she lay an egg and pop it out again?

Is it all the way back out? My girls vent didn't all stay in at once but it stayed in for longer periods of time and not as much popped out before it finally stayed all the way in.

Did the diarrhea slow down or stop? I wouldn't want her constipated. The only goal I had for the immodium was to give her vent a rest so the prolapse would have a chance to stay in.

If you don't have the calcium citrate yet can you give her another calcium? Would she eat clean dry crumbled egg shells? Those are free. I would think that would digest and absorb better than oyster shell. Then if you had separate vitamin D in a lower dose you could add that in.
She may have layed an egg, there were a couple eggs in there but I'm not 100%sure.

Yes it's all the way back out again, yeah.

Well idk that it stopped but she was leaking the white stuff again.
Yeah I want her to stop pooping the white liquid stuff to keep her vent in, but also there's alot of swelling on the top part of the vent

Yeah I don't have the calcium citrate but I could try the egg shells! She will eat anything!
I don't think I have vitamin D🤔

It doesn’t matter what brand, but aim for 300 mg to 600 mg of calcium. Egg shells if strong, are pure calcium carbonate. So are Tums. Most of us recommend calcium citrate, since it is absorbed faster and slightly better absorbed. But if you can take an egg shell, put it in a blender with say 1/2 or 1/4 of a whole egg, and give it to her, that would be good. Egg yolk has some D, but salmon or tuna have much more. One Egg shell is about equal to a calcium tablet. The problem with giving food for vitamins, is that you have to give so much. If you have to wait much more for delivery it probably won’t help much. She should have had it right away. It has been 3 weeks, so it is not looking good for the prolapse to stay inside.

Yeah I feel bad that I can't get it rn.
I'll try the eggs shells. I'll do all I can and if it doesn't work there's nothing I can do

Still better than the first picture. Hard to tell because the last picture was at an angle.

OK, If I was in this situation then this is what I would try next.

Put some ice in a ziploc and squeeze the air out before closing.
Put a layer pf paper towel over her vent and apply the ice pack.
Hold it for a minute and then give her a 30 second break. I'd do this so there was at minimum 5 minutes of time with the ice pack. Maybe a little more.

Then put your glove on and use a big blob of cortisone ointment and push the prolapse back in. Hold in place at least 20 seconds.

Then do another round of ice packs. The ice should reduce the external swelling. If the prolapse pops out I'd try once more to put it in and apply the cold pack. Just for a minute so you don't freeze her butt off. ;)

IDK if you can do it tonight but if it stays in and she doesn't lay an egg then it might help.

I just saw this now bc I was playing volleyball for two hours but I will try this tomorrow!
I will do exactly what you said. Thank you for the step by step information on how to do it, I'll update Wednesday. I will be gone for Thursday night thru til Sunday morning

I have an almost 1yr old hen with a prolapsed vent. It’s been almost 48hrs, and it looks better but still isn’t fully staying in. We’ve done warm baths followed by preparation h wipes (really break down the stick on stuff just laying on it) and preparation h cream. She just laid her first egg since this all started. I’m assuming we need to toss it since she’s had medication there - but how long do we need to toss her egg after the last time she gets the preparation h?
