Hello I posted on here the other day about this problem but no one responded so I'm back with more information to try again.

I have a hen, about 2 years old, with a prolapsed vent. I have given her multiple Epsom salt baths to keep it clean, I couldn't push it back in or even try because there is a thick crust of poop or something on the prolapsed. I'm having trouble getting it off but I think if I could, I could fix the prolapse. She is alert & strong. Eating and drinking and can pass food and water. I have her in a box in my bathroom after her last bath and put olive oil on the prolapsed as I read it's best to keep it moist and could help with my problem. I could really use some help and ideas as I dont have a chicken first aid kits yet and no vet can see me and even if they could are over 2 hours away.

Some pictures are below I'm really hoping to help this girly and not have to cull her.

The thick crust may be dried tissue. Are you putting anything on it? Triple antibiotic ointment that does not have pain reliever in it, or honey will do until you hear from one of these Educators. Do not bathe her unless they tell you to.

See if you can find Manuka honey, or it might be labeled Manukora honey. I really don't know what else to advise you, I'm hoping the Educators show up soon. Do a search here on vent prolapse and read some of the other threads, you should find some good advice, especially from those three people and also from @coach723.

Alright thank you I'll put that on my list, she's doing alright and eat and I'm hoping keeping it wet like I've seen in other forms will help until I can figure it out
