I have a 1 yr old RIR, 4 days ago I noticed that she had an egg stuck part way out of her vent. I broke the egg and made sure no egg or shell was left inside and noticed that she had a protrusion on the side of where the egg was stuck. I let her soak in Epsom salt and cleaned her up and I tried pushing it back up into her the first night. I used Vaseline and she seemed to have an opening the whole way and could put my entire finger in there but the tissue on the side was extremely tender and wouldn't go up. I have been soaking her every night, she is tucked away in a dark space,(only gets a couple of hours of daylight), I have limited her food, she is getting electrolytes with calcium and I have been putting honey on her bum. She always acts bright eyed and bushy tailed when I come in, doesn't seem in any distress or discomfort. Her swelling has gone down a little and now I'm questioning myself if that is truly with it is. I have included pic to show you what I mean. Any advice would be extremely welcomed.

I can't really tell what I am looking at from the pic. Too much debris. Some more pics with some explanations might be of help. Thanks.

I had been pouring over other threads and followed advice of getting very aggressive with cleaning all the gook off. It was painful for her but was able to get vent pushed back inside her. Kept her inside a couple of days. She's doing great and back with her friends

Great news! Keep an eye on her, though. Once a bird prolapses the chances of it happening again are increased.

Good luck with her.
