Proper feed

I have 5 16 week old Brahma Chickens When do you change from a Starter feed? And what food do you start using?

Put them on grower/raiser, then at 24 weeks switch to layer.

You could put them on Flock Raiser & when they start laying put a dish of Oyster Shells. I don't have much space so having different stages of feed is a problem. Read what others say about Flock Raiser and went with it. I get a small bag of Chick Starter which lasts for until they're about 6wks, depending how many chicks I have, gradually switch to Flock Raiser which I ferment.

Check the protein content of what ever you buy for your next bag. IMO, you should not have anything less than 16%. Grower is 15% here. I'll not buy it for any bird!

I feed Flock Raiser to everyone all year, with oyster shell on the side. Easy! Mary

I feed Straight Grower that is 18%...Oyster shell on the side..Layer actually does not contain enough protein for most layers..
