Pros and Cons of Various Incubators

If you tell me the number of chicks you want to hatch out usually, I could make a good suggestion for an incubator. The reason I use an incubator is that I hatch tons of chicks and I want to get my birds all hatched out before summer hits if possible. Try hatching out 100's of chicks or 1000's and you won't want to use hens that can only set on a dozen eggs at a time. I still try to let a hen hatch a few out each year because I want to retain the broody characteristics of the breeds I raise.

I bought a hovabator with fan and I thought it worked just fine for what I wanted, which is to hatch small batches a few times a year. Hopefully it will continue to function well.
