I live in the mountains of Montana with very cold winters. I'm trying to get my coop insulated but my son is very busy. I was thinking of getting a heat panel. I would like some prod & cons on them. The coop has high a ceiling.with kinda high roosting bars. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I am in Alberta, not in the mountains sadly.

I am of the view that insulating a coop is useless. For insulation to work, you would need to prevent air flowing into the coop. Without air circulation, you will not be able to get rid of excess moisture. That will lead to frostbite.

As long as your chickens are out of any draft they will be fine. As well, make sure your roosting bars are wide enough so their feet are completely covered when they are roosting, ie not rapped around the roosting bar.
