Protect from ticks or let eat them?

So this year I have kept my chickens fenced in about a third of the yard, before they had free range of the whole yard. I realized we have ticks in the yard were the chickens aren't. Should I be protecting my chickens from the ticks somehow or should I let them range in the yard to help eat them? They have areas to dust bath and DE.

I say let them range. That is why I got mine originally - 15 years ago. I used them only to get rid of the ticks. Anything else was a bonus. 3 years ago, the last of that original flock died of old age. This spring I rebuilt a bigger and better run for when I am not home. Now I can not wait for them to feel comfortable to roam all around he house and do their thing and gobble up all the ticks, because they are back.
