Protein for roosters?

Long story short, I don't have any hens right now, just a couple of really sweet roos. And it seems that locally, my only feed choices for roosters over 18 weeks is:

to keep giving them Starter/Grower 20% (too much protein?)
-or-
start giving them Layer 16% (less protein, but too much calcium?)

How much protein do roosters need after 18-20 weeks of age? How much is too much, and what problems can it cause?

Thanks!

My rooster eats the layer feed right along with my hens. He doesn't touch their oyster shell.
He seems to be doing just fine. I know they say that the calcium is bad for roos, but my layer feed is only 4% calcium and without the addition of OS their egg shells suffer.

I was wondering the same thing!
My babies turn 18 weeks in 2 weeks and I was wondering if Boy George could just eat the layer pellets along with the hens. I hope so!
