Is there a lot of protein in grasshoppers? My mama hens are feeding my baby chicks lots of grasshoppers. They hardly eat any of the chick starter, although they do eat some.
I have the laying hens and the hen an chicks all together, but my 2 week chicks are flying now, and can get into the elevated layer chicken feed, and do sometimes. And my laying hens get into the chick feed. I have it out in different places, and they all eat grasshoppers, the preferred food, plus table scraps.
