I have laying hens in with my guineas. Is the higher protein ok for the hens?

Are they laying now? Some use up to 21% protein blends while hens are laying, same amount used in game feed. I'm thinking of uping the protein as I'm giving more scratch during winter and see the eggs are getting smaller due to that so will go with egg producer blend- 21% when the present egg layer mix- 16% is used up.

Maybe that is why the eggs I'm getting are so large. I bought three laying hens from a lady up the road and the smallest egg I've gotten is two and a half ounces. they have been getting dunmore starter/grower 20% because they are in with my guineas, for the time being.

so it is not a bad thing to feed higher protein if you are offering oyster shells ad lib?

the only thing that i would worry about is getting eggs stuck when the hen is laying

might need to divide to stop that problem nut ive never been in that situation
