I've used this site as a valuable resource! My new Dominicker was on death's door when I got him at auction last week and thanks to the advice of you fine folks he's now doing great! Each day for the past week I've seen him sitting stationary, eyes crusted over, mucous coming from his mouth, fluffed up.. Yesterday he seemed worse than ever in the AM, one eye swollen up, stinky mucous strung out of his beak, both eyes sealed shut. I wiped his eyes, face and chest with VetRx solution and his eye began to pour out clear pus! The only thing that kept hope alive was how excited he got over berries I sat in front of him last night.
But with ACV and VetRx (and lots of love from his new mom!), I walked outside today to find a perky, active rooster with a clean face and a less swollen crop! He's chasing around treats and foraging with his four buddies as if nothing ever happened.
I'm 24, almost eight months pregnant, and formerly worked at a vet, so naturally I'm extremely sensitive over my feathered kids! After my great triumph, I'm overjoyed and I've decided to join the forums officially! Yay! So glad to talk to other chicken lovers
