We are relatively new to chickens, having gotten our first baby chicks last spring to raise in our backyard.

This spring our 1 year old Black Australorp, Clementine, became a mother! After sitting faithfully for almost 28days(it took me a few days to get her fertile eggs) she is now a proud momma to 6 absolutely adorable baby bantam frizzle chicks! These were mail order fertile eggs and 6 out of 8 hatched and are perfectly healthy little things full of energy!
many Thanks to Frizzled Feathers Farm!!

Anyway, my little kids are loving watching this hen 'mother' her babies!
We are thrilled!!!!
and she is proving to be just as excellent a momma as she was a brooder!

I want one of my hens to hatch a clutch.

We've been thinking about giving our broody hen some eggs to hatch...I think you just pushed me over the edge!
