Proud of our first Broody and her 6 wee little Hatchlings!!! whoop!

Awwww....Clementine is a beautiful mother!! I love seeing a mama hen walking around with her chicks. Don't they remind you of little bumble bees following the hen around. All you can see are these little balls of fluff hurrying to catch up with mom.....

thanks for all your kind comments!!

and especially thanks for the link to Chickenstock 2010 info!

We will be on our way home from a Big Bend camping trip so we can't make it, otherwise I would be there- it sounds wonderful!!!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I'm calling my friend with the fertile eggs today. Those little faces! And your daughter looks a lot like mine. My daughter holds the chickens on her lap when she swings on the swingset.

Wonderful pictures. There's nothing better then the sound of peeps and the sight of a mother hen and her babies foraging out in the grass

now you guys make it so that I want a broody hen so I can have little feather butts running around but I am at my limit of chickens living in town

I want babies and with everyone posting these cute pictures I am going crazy I have a EE bantam starting to act broody I wanted to get some silkie and frizzle eggs for her to hatch but so far I am not sure how I need a incubator just in case she doesn't go broody on me

Wow! This is too cool. I just got 12+ bantam Cochin frizzle eggs from Fay at Frizzled Feathers... and I'm putting some of them under my broody buff Brahma LF hen Fuzzy Feet... she is 3yrs and this will be her first hatch... so your post has me really jazzed about this

. I just can't wait... I really hope she's as good a mama as your girl... I have a pretty good feeling!

Good luck Hipeatall!

Of course BYC is where I got most of my pointers, but I also like the following for its step by step info:

I didn't candle. Didnt do much but put my girl in a safe pen(away from the others) that was dark and cozy. and I waited!! that 3 weeks gets looooong too!!!

Shellie & Sammimom, get those eggs!!!

You'll never regret it!

My husband still says, "but we don't really have room for more chickens"
and I say, "but they're bantams!!!"
;-)

Big Bend is so awesome... Davis Mountains are pretty sweet and not to far if you have time... we loved the McDonald Observatory. Bummer you can't make Chickenstock though... I think there might be some talk about maybe having another in the Fall
