So my boys I think are starting to hit puberty. Every time I walk up to the pond August (my brown drake) puffs up really big and squawks at me. He's got Trudy (my white/silver) drake doing the same.

Here's a video. What's he doing?

Also, he's showing a lot of head bobbing. Is this a precursor to mating? My only female is my fawn and white and I've been contemplating getting rid of her and just having two or three males, but I didn't think I'd need to this early. They're about 2 1/2 months old now.

Yes he looks like he is being territorial and the head bobbing does mean mating....

Yup looks like raging hormone behavior. That head bobbing is a mating thing for sure. Nip it in the bid with him if you can now. Scoop him up and pet him and carry him around...let him know you are in charge.

Afterthought for you : If you have more drakes and only one female, you are in trouble. If you take her away leaving only the boys, the boys will fight and they could kill each other. If you leave her, she could be overmated. I would drop it down to her and one drake or add more females.
