Hi all !
We recently introduced two new buff orpingtons to our flock. The one who is larger, almost twice as big, has very swollen feet and raised scales. First we thought it was bumble foot, but there is no sign of a cut or infection. She otherwise is very active and still runs for treats, and can perch.
Now we believe it is leg mites. One of our original chickens (green feet in pic) has started limping, like her right foot is uncomfortable when walking on it.
We have soaked and scrubbed all of their feet, and then applied campho-phenique and then vasaline. And plan to do that a couple times a week. We also cleaned out their coup and put in new bedding.
Can anyone identify if this IS leg mites ? Is it something else ?
(Also not sure if her toe was broken in the past, before we got her)
And how should We go about treatment?
We don't want it to spread and want to make sure we are doing the right things to help fix the problem!!
