I cleaned the girls coop and sprinkled DE all around and in the coop with hopes of killing any mites, earwigs and . I went back later to check on my girls and a row of ants were strolling right through the DE what the heck. Does that powder even work. I've been putting triple antibiotic around my girls eye, but she was scratching so maybe the puffyness was self inflicted because of mites. I posted a picture of my sweet girl. I could really use some advice on this. Thank you.

Have you notice mites and lice on her?
For an infestation, treat with a permethrin based poultry spray or dust. DE is not going to get rid of them.
Clean out your bedding and treat your housing as well. The Permethrin will take care of the ants and earwigs too.

It's hard to see the swelling clearly on your girl, if you can get a clearer photo that would be good. She may also have Fowl Pox, but the swelling could be from ant bites or other insects.

Thank you for the info. I tried the all natural spray, but I guess I need to get permethrin and clean their whole coop and nesting box again ughhh. I hope this is a good enough picture. Again thanks to all who give me advice. I really appreciate BYC community.

DE doesn't work like that, it gets on insects, but takes days to kill them, and weeks to get rid of the group of insects and their eggs. And so many insects will self clean it off, or walk through dewey grass and get washed, etc.
I still use it sometimes because i do think it helps, but definitely keep permithrin on hand too like the others said. Hope the poor dear feels better soon.

Thank you for the addition photo:)
Yes, I would treat all the chickens and your housing with the Permethrin.

It does look like she might have Fowl Pox. I would leave the scabs alone, but go ahead and treat her with the Permethrin too. Along the neck, under the wings and vent.

yep I’m pretty sure it’s fowl pox.

Don’t pick at the scabs bc it will only make it worse.
