Oh Cyn, I am so sorry. I just found a white leghorn...dead...no apparent reason. Maybe she fell from the roost, and broke her neck? Nothing looks out of the norm.

Deb, I'm sorry about your girl. What a bummer of a day!
From looking inside my poor Cassidy, I did see that she was very well fleshed. Her oviduct and intestines seemed great, as did her airway, and there was food in her crop; we even looked in the gizzard, liver and heart. The heart was obviously very odd-remember, we have done several of these necropsies and we always look at the liver, heart and oviduct at the very least.
I know it may seem morbid, but we just have to at least try to get an idea of what happened. My DH has a scientific mind as well as a love for our girls (no matter what he says, he's a chick magnet!).
Carrie, I think they need to change my title from "Queen of the Flock" to "Queen of Disaster".

As heart-wrenching as this past year has been, Cyn, I think there is a purpose ...........what you and Tom are learning and sharing with us is a gift to BYC. It has to get better and we must all think positive for you

Thanks, Carrie. I always like to post this stuff so someone maybe can learn from what happens here at the Chicken Asylum.
I'm exhausted. This has been an upsetting and draining day for us, so I'm going to turn in early. I do have necropsy photos from today, but I wont post them unless someone has a specific question. I'm getting way too many necropsies under my belt.
