Not sure what to do...she was fine yesterday and has never been sick since we got her about 3 months ago...she just started laying two weeks ago and even laid an egg yesterday...she now can not seem to even pick herself up...she doesn't seem to have any visible problems and doesn't really seem to hurt when touched all over but as soon as I stop supporting her her face just goes straight down...please let us know what we should do...for now I put her in her nesting box and have removed the rooster from her since he was pestering her...we only have her and the rooster...thanks for any help

So sorry your pullet is feeling sick.

Not sure....has she laid any eggs lately?(such as today?) If not, I'm guessing that she may be egg-bound??? But I'm really not sure.

Hopefully someone else will know!

She hasn't laid yet today...she did just lay yesterday. What or is there anything we can do if so? Thank you for your quick reply.

This happened to a hen of mine last fall. I raced her to the vet. Immediate in house blood work was consistent with "inflammation and/or infection." The vet immediately put her on antibiotics (baytril) and antiinflammatories and also hydrated and tube fed her. She completely recovered and is the picture of health today - we never knew what hit her. I am convinced she would have died without that intervention because she went down fast.

Today she is eating and drinking and isn't as weak as yesterday. She is upright and is kind of scooting about when she wants to move. She laid an egg last night/or early this morning and it had a VERY soft shell. She has never laid this type of egg before. We set her up w/ a bed of hay and we are going to put antibiotics into her water this afternoon.
