Pullet being bullied

I did all of this aside from the space part because I live in town and don’t have much to spare I kept the pullet in the 2x2 cage inside the run so they would get used to each other and then spread some feed out along the ground for her and the others to get to and “eat together” she could fit her head through and get to the feed on the ground I had two feeders and two waterers at opposite ends of the coop so the older hen couldn’t bully her away from feed and water but that didn’t seem to work either I do have one pullet that doesn’t seem to join in on the abuse towards pepper so I suppose I could put crack with pepper and then try integrating both of them together and see how that goes

RIR are mean , especially to my Buffs. I put 2 of the offenders in "look but don't touch " jail for 3 days. No more problems. It lowered them on the pecking order.

The RIR is significantly older about four months so I figure she would move right back to the top of the pecking order

Hard to say. My Buffs were 3 1/2 mo. And RIR's were 7 mo. At the time. I read the "jail" article on BYC. It has worked so far. I'm building a new coop/run for the Buffs and more docile breeds to help try to eliminate this in the future.

Well the blinders will be here Wednesday so I’ll use those and put them on every chicken that attacks her and go from there

That is a great article so I was on the right track with my 2x2 cage I guess I’m going to have to try that again
