pullet egg laying

my young pullet goes in nesting box and sits for an hour but doesn't always lay an egg

Since she's young, she must just be figuring things out still When was her first? And how many has she laid by now?

I'm eagerly awaiting first eggs from my nine pullets! I know to "expect weird things" when they do finally start laying... Right?

Yeah, it can take some time for the newbies to figure things out.
I have older hens that 'lounge' in the nest before and after laying.
Nothing to worry about unless she' acting sick when not in the nest.
