When I found her yesterday late afternoon, the dog was standing over her but just looking at her, poking at her, so I just ran in and got her. He had plucked a lot of feathers off of her back, and she has two cuts that go into the flesh, and some abrasions, missing some patches of skin. She was breathing very hard and may have been in shock, just staring straight ahead.
After she calmed down a bit, I stiched the skin over the two cuts last night with thread so we could go on to bed, and put her in the bed beside me wrapped in a towel. She finally stood and drank water about 4:30 this morning, and ate a bite or two of corn I had in the fridge. She is calmer and looking around. The vet doesn't do birds, but I called and he said to come get an antibiotic to put in her water, and he wouldn't do anything else to the cuts. Do I leave the skin stiched? What about the cuts underneath through the flesh? Will those heal ok? I did put on some peroxide first and a little neosporin. Should I try to wrap it? If so, I'll have to go buy something. She still has some feathers covering part of her back by the way. I'll get a picture in a minute.
