Pullet issues

Brand new to the world of raising chicks. Anyway, I have two chicks with two separate issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. First chick has a growth/abcess/boil on the side of her head, almost to where the beak begins. It is hard, but hasn't slowed her down from eating, drinking, running around. Anyone had similar issues? Thought it might be an abcessed hair follicle, but not ready to lance it yet. Pic is posted.





2. Other chick has swollen hocks. Hasn't slowed her down either, but just concerned.




I'm interested if its viral or bacterial, or did they just get bit by ants (live in the South) or a spider.

Were these chicks from a hatchery or were they hatched by you?

Hatchery - a local guy with some hens/roosters and sells chicks 20-25 at a time.

Tumors? Who sells chicks that have lumps on them?! They're both in unusual places, especially the one growing out of the beak. Can't say another chick started that by pecking. Can't figure a spider or ant would be likely to do that in that location either. Strange. Hope the diagnosis is made soon. Best wishes.
