I have an 8 week old pullet that I noticed yesterday was closing one eye and keeping it closed for a time. Today she seems to be keeping it closed even more. It is not swollen and there is no discharge or visible damage to the eye or around it. No bugs on her and she is eating and drinking fine. My concern is that this could be an early warning of...something, I have no idea what. Any advice, ideas or recommendations?

I think it wold be smart to separate her and move her to a warm place to observe her. If this is something you may prevent the others from catching it, and if not you'll have a chance to observe her without interference. If you have them it never hurts to put electrolytes in the water or to offer her a little extra protein. I could be as simple as dust and goop, or she may have been pecked and could use a temporary break.

Thanks LynneP. Good advice. She seems fine now so maybe it was just some dust or something in her eye. Typical...you take a "child" to the doctor and they are all of sudden well.
