Hi all,
I'm not sure what I have going on here.. I have a three month old sizzle/fly tie pullet that just began acting odd. I noticed yesterday that she was hanging back in the yard while the rest went out to play, so I started watching her but decided she seemed ok. Then today when I let everyone out, she stayed in the coop and wouldn't eat. She has one eye that won't open but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it- no goop or redness. She is very lethargic and has been hanging her head. Occasionally she would jump up and run a bit, but then stop and lay down. I'm wondering if she is sick or maybe injured. She is pretty much the bottom of the pecking order but no one picks on her too much. I have her in quarantine with food and water. I dipped her beak a few times and she still wouldn't drink. I haven't seen any poops yet.
Any ideas?
Thanks :)

At that age coccidiosis could be the problem. Symptoms include lethargy or sleepiness, hunched or puffed up appearance, not eating, diarrhea or blood in droppings, extreme weakness. The treatment is Corid (amprollium) in the cattle section of feed stores, used for 5 days in the water. Is she showing and signs of lameness? Here is some reading:
