Hi everyone. So last week I posted about my family bringing home a chick that was in the park. Thanks to you all, we somewhat know the breed. We've kept her quarantined and have been treating her like a baby, however, she started to purr and layed an egg. She is extremely small. She is 1/3 the size of my cream legbar. Does this mean that she's a hen? Will she stay this size? ( she's small like a quail ) what am I looking for while under quarantine?
Thanks

Bantam breed? I didnt see your other post to see what kind of bird it is but if they said it was a bantam breed, they stay pretty small, iv got 2 bantam silkie crosses 7 months old and they are as big as 3 month old brown leghorns, silkies look bigger because they are fluffy but if you grab them, their bodies a small

Wow! Yes! She's small like yours? Do you think that they are too small to keep with large hens? I have an orphington, legbar, Americana, and one more.

I have two hamburgs, which are bantam sized, in with my brahmas, BJG and all the rest... Once they got the pecking order settled, things are fine. Only minor squabbles.

It means she's a female ;) pullet until one year old, then called a hen. :D
Congrats....she's pretty little thing.
Plumage looks pristine, guessing she's still a pullet.

Yes, you should be fine putting them in with bigger chickens, they might argue a little bit but they will settle in
