Hi all. I have 5 pullets, 3 SLW and 2 EE. All hatched April 20th of this year. I have, for sure, two that are laying, one of the SLW and one EE. My SLW did not lay yesterday but then I found 2 eggs in her nest box today. I know she did not lay yesterday because I cleaned out all the boxes. My question is, could she have laid 2 eggs in about 15 hours? That seems like a lot. Both eggs in question had yolks and looked the same size. Or did another SLW start laying? Everyone that is not laying seems ready, big combs, squatting, all of it. I just want to know because I keep all the shells from the first eggs and label them with who laid it. (Corny, I know!) The egg in question is on the left in the picture. Thanks!

Thanks all! I just poke a small hole in each end with a needle and blow out the insides. Then I label the eggs with who laid it and when. They are just in a display basket on my kitchen counter.

I would have to vote 2 different ones on this. due to coloring on same day.
Yes, they can lay 2 eggs in a day. I have had it happen. Hen was locked up by herself so no others were with her. laid two. another hen also locked up by herself so I could see what color she was laying, went 3-4 days with no egg. checked at 5 PM no egg, next day at noon, there were 3 eggs in her nest.:eek:I was hoping for blue or green.

The eggs look like they come from 3 different hens. If you are really sure just one hen laid those. Put a little food coloring or lip stick just in the vent of just that one bird. That will let you know for certain.

I will agree they came from different girls. I do have a Delaware that is laying 2-3 per day it has to be her as no one else lays that color egg. The third gets soft shelled if the oyster shell gets low,,, she will molt soon and I hope this corrects.

Ok everyone. Now I have another question! Can a pullet lay 3 eggs a day or is this other green/blue egg from my other EE? Exact same color as the other egg but in a different nesting box. Egg in question is the green/blue one on the left. I know I have 3 layers but I thought only one EE was laying now
