I think I read a snippet somewhere about hens laying getting pale combs. I have one pullet cranking em out, 11 extra larges since her very first 13 days ago. The other 3 POL pullets have much redder combs than her suddenly, her color has really faded. Normal do you think? Seems well otherwise.

She's eating 20% flock grower both fermented and pellets, little bit of scratch, mealworms, cabbage hung. Oyster shell feeder centrally located.

is she a different breed ? Some have paler combs naturally. Another possible is if she is anemic- check for parasites. Offer some extra protein. Check her droppings for any blood

Well there was nothing to worry about! This pullet actually likes to lay when I'm with them so I've been observing.

She enters the box pink combed, goes pale while laying. Hops out pale, then pinks up to normal within 15 minutes. I've noticed napping birds go a bit paler, this is much paler than that.

All is well and this seems like a normal egg laying behavior. Always plenty to learn!
