Pullet Limping Badly

I FELT her over, but only visually inspected her foot, which looks OK. How do I inspect the rest? Part her feathers all over? Yes, definitely the soft bedding has more cushion. I was wondering if the fact that a cushiony surface causing less pain helps at all with diagnosis.

It's possible it could help with the diagnosis:) I'm not a vet, but would think that if she does better on softer bedding, it could be a sprain.

I would part the feathers at the hock and take a look, just to make sure there is no redness/swelling at the joint. Also inspect the bottom of the feet closely for any small cuts or scabs.

Hi everyone,
I have a Millie update... I think the rest and confinement is working! She is still limping, but not as badly. She was even scratching around a bit with her "bad" leg (keeping most of her weight in her "good" leg. I am so pleased! She even laid anegg! Coukd be herfirst. Think I'll keep her in there all week, since she aeemed to re-injure herself during free range time Sunday. Her "sisters" are not happy that I'm not letting anyone free range these few days, but one is laying low with an awful molt, and since the young ones are new layers, I want them only eating complete layer feed while their bodies adjust. I know it's nor eart shattering news, but knew youvall could relate to my sigh of relief!
