I've noticed for 3 nights in a row that Pipsqueak (11 mo. pullet) didn't have a full crop like the rest of the gang.
Tonight I can feel her breast bone.
I hand fed her some chick feed and she happily scarfed it down.
After that I could feel her crop again.
She went from a puff ball to one skinny chick.
Her poos look normal.
She's acting fine. Jumping around, napping, eating, pooping, exploring the run, chasing the other chicks, etc.
I treat coop, run, bedding, chicks with DE.
ACV in water.
All are on medicated chick feed.
She's the boss of the group so she's not missing meals.
It's been hot/humid here after 26 straight days of rain.
Wading pool is available for hot feets.
So what does everyone think? Worms? Stress?
There are no vets in the area who could do a fecal float. All vets in the surrounding area are for domestic animals only.
