I picked this little one up from the mystery bin at RK about 2 months ago. I think it's a black sex link, but not sure. I've only had Silkies, so this is new for me. My husband swears it's a cockerel. Feathers have an iridescent green sheen. There is a very small bump on the legs that he thinks are spurs forming. This bird is my buddy, follows me around and sits with me instead of the flock. I'm hoping it's a hen and I can keep her!

Sex links can be sexed at birth.Black sex-links pullets are all black, and the males are black with a white spot.

Once the girls grow up they are a golden/brown usually on their chest and necks, sometimes through their back, and cokerels/roosters are mor elike a barred rock, with bad barring and soemtimes have blacken gray areas on them and have orange and brown hidden spots on them.

Here is my cockerel BSL-

Your hen is a pullet.

Also all chickens have spur bumps, and some hens even grow spurs.

Yay! I am so happy to hear all of you say she's a pullet! I think my husband was hoping she was a roo so he would have a reason to get rid of her. I might have had a problem with my chicken math...6 chicks somehow turned into 15.
