I have a 7 week old Mille Fleur d’Uccle Bantam and this morning my neighbor told me he thinks Miss Millie is a Mr. Milton. He has more experience keeping chickens than I do and he made a good case but admitted it’s a bit soon to know for sure. What do you guys think?

At this age it is all about the comb and wattles, although bearded breeds don't usually grow much wattle. So for your little one it's all down to comb. At 7 weeks a cockerel's comb would be twice as large and red, very visible from a side view. Your chick's comb cannot be seen at all from the side and from the front it is smallish and only pink.

This gives me hope! I’m not allowed to have roosters where I live so I’m hoping you are right. Thank you for taking the time to explain in such great detail, this is my first batch of chicks so I need all the help I can get.
