Pullet or Cockerel

Honestly they all look like girls to me, except maybe number one. But maybe it’s the position he/she is in that’s giving me roo vibes. They all have pretty pale comb/wattles, which is a good sign if not a for sure way of telling.

I go back and forth also. I've got another 6 weeks before a decision has to be made. I've actually got 13 adolescent chickens and I'm not sure about any of them. What I'm going to look at is reddish large combs, emerging waddles, pointed tail feathers, emergence of pointed saddle feathers, thicker legs,etc. Right now 1, 4, and 6 are suspect roos to me. Thanks folks! This chicken business is sexism in reverse. Laying hens go to their nesting palace while roos go to the freezer!

Thank you so much for your opinions! I've got another 5 or 6 six weeks before I need to make my decisions. I do believe some of them are cockerels. Some are already showing aggression and chasing other chickens. One small chicken has already been pecked to death.

Pecked to death? Do you have enough room in your brooder? Are you feeding a good quality chick starter?
There are plenty of experts here who can help you sort out this aggressive behavior. If you are inclined to do so, post in the behavior thread. Good luck with your chicks.

OK, It is now 2 weeks later (8 wks.) and I'm going to ask for an update on opinions. (they were mostly inconclusive 2 wks. ago. Of the following pictures which ones do you think are roos?

I think #2 for sure, the lighter barred bird, looks like a Dominique. # 5 and 6 I'm still not 100% sure of, I think these are the same ones I wasn't sure about the first time around.

Are you seeing anything in their behavior that would give you any hints? They're still youngish for that I guess. Maddening, isn't it?
