pullet or cockerel?

I would second pullet. I don't see much red in the comb, and it's still pretty small. Around 5 weeks, many Orpingtons develop a slightly larger and more red comb if they're cockerels. The second picture especially looks more like a pullet. Though to be fair, some birds grow more slowly than others, so it's never 100% accurate.

Male specific saddle feathers do not come in until 12-16 weeks. At 5 weeks you cannot look at feather shape and come to any conclusion.

Pullets will spar as well. That is also not indicative of sex.

Orpingtons are a slow maturing breed. Right now there is nothing screaming cockerel though. Post updated photos in a couple weeks.

I agree with you! Pullet for now, but keep an eye! They're pullets until they're not 😂

How does her comb compare to your others? I’m still new at this so I’m not going to guess. I have a 7 week BO and no reddening of her comb base yet but like they say, they can develope at different rates. I’ll be interested to see what she grows up to be haha
