Made a newbie mistake aND put some yUnger pullets in the big girl coop. No deaths, but one young un got pecked pretty bad on her head. Lost skin from the neck up. Shes doing alright, but how t remove bloody feathers and treat the wounds to best care for this chick.
She's in solitary right now, so we can work with her injuries.

Welcome to BYC. Sorry about your injured pullet. Can you post any pictures of her injuries? You can use home made saline to dab on the wounds to clean them. A mild wound spray such as Vetericyn works well instead of the saline. Then apply plain Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment twice a day until healing. Keep her separated since she will attract pecking with her injury.

To make saline:
Add 2 tsp of table salt to a quart or liter of water. Boil it for a few minutes to dissolve, and store in a clean jar.

Thanks
We're using Triple A cream, and cleaned her up, so I guess we're on the right path. She's been isolated from the others. Just wasn't sure since this is our first attempt at raising a flock.

You may want to keep her near the others where they can see each other, since that can help when she has to be reintegrated back into her
She's right outside the coop with a full view . So at some point, we'll be able to put her back with the others once she heals up? That's good news. My wife Lisa was really concerned that we wouldn't be able to do that.
I Don't know the first thing about all this.
