Everyone is sexed except the Wyandottes.
Our current layers give us 3 eggs a day. We have 2 Black sex links and 1 White polish laying. Our mother hen, a white silkie mix is definitely a hen.

Nope! We've had our current layers for 1 year, as of last month.

They all look like pullets to me. As far as the "Hen crowing" idea, I can honestly say from experience that hens will in fact try to crow. I once had all hens, and one cochin hen legitimately tried to crow at least once a day. It sounded hysterical, but she was indeed both laying eggs AND crowing. I think they do it when there is no rooster, one will try to become the "dominant" bird.... or at least that's what I've read.
