Pullet screaming in nesting box, is she ok?

My 9 month old buff Orpington pullet is sitting in the nesting box, screaming every now and then. She puffs up when she screams. Is something wrong? She’s not broody because she allows me to pick her up and pet her.

It’s normal nesting behavior. Hens protect their nests while they lay eggs and also when they’re broody. If your hen was broody she would be sitting on the nest 24/7.

I don’t know...this is constant, never ending pain screaming. I’ve heard the “egg song” before....but this doesn’t sound normal. It’s like a cross between a chicken and a video game

She’s been doing it for at least an hour now...no egg and hasn’t left the nesting box except when I let her out on the grass. She stopped screaming when I got her outside.
