I have a Russian orloff chick, around 6 or 7 weeks, that is not looking good. Her wings are draping towards the ground, she is huddled up and extremely lethargic. She also has no balance. Not drinking water as far as I can tell, but her poop looks normal. Seems very skinny. About 5 days ago I picked her up and her wings were making a weird popping sound and they didn't feel right. This was just 2 days after she was introduced to the with the 17 week olds. Since hearing her wings pop she has been getting more and more lethargic but was still acting like a chicken. Today she just acts like she is on the verge of death. The other chick introduced to the coop with her, a blw same age, keeps getting under her and pushing her to standing.
I will post pictures of the two chicks and a close up of the sick one shortly. Any thoughts are much appreciated. This is my husbands favorite chicken and he just lost his beloved cockatiel 2 weeks ago when an egg cracked inside her, so this would just be much more sadness for him.

Btw, all my other chickens are acting normal.

Treat these guys ASAP for Coccidia. Buy Corid from Tractor supply or some other feed store and start them on it immediately. Quarantine them by themselves and if they aren't drinking on their own, use an eye dropper and drip the medicine into their beaks. Judge about how much you think each would drink at one sitting and give them that much every couple hours. The one isn't trying to get her to stand, I believe she is trying to hide under her like she is her mama. In the meantime, try some vitamins, electrolytes and yogurt to get something into them. Treat for the full 5 - 7 days.

Thank you for your response. I have questions though...

Is coccidia worms?
Does this mean I won't be able to sell their eggs?
Are my ducks at risk?
should I be worried that my family is around this?

Coccidia is not worms and the eggs should be OK as long as you are using Corid (other drugs like Sulmet you'd have to discard the eggs). Not sure about the ducks, but your family should be OK!

Cocci are protozoa spread via poop excreted from your sick bird. It would be best to treat all your birds with corid, it wont hurt them and there is no withdrawal period. Leadwolf1 is correct, you'll have to use an eyedropperful of the treated water to save your chick. Dose her 6-7 times a day to try to make it effective enough so that she will recover and drink the mixture on her own.

RIP Darla the Russian orloff.
Thank you for your input. Darla did not make it through the day but the flock is being treated and we will hopefully avoid any more heart ache.
