Pullet??

I bought this as a pullet along with 3 others. I bought 4 diff breeds. This one was called a partridge rock i belive. Anyway her tail seems very different from the other 3 girls.. I didnt know if this was her breed? Or if maybe she is not a she....

You don't mention how old the PR is...what 6 weeks?

At any rate, the bird is too young for male sex feathers, so the tail is not because it is is rooster.

However, the comb is developing and that can be a sign depending upon the age. I could tell more if I knew the age.

Very sorry! I meant to add her age.. Yes she will be 6 weeks tomorow :)
 
i had just read that sometimes male chicks tail feathers look kinda messy at this age.. And so thats what has me wondering. Hers all kind point out and down and diff directions. The rest of the pullets have nice tail feathers all going the same direction :)
 
I could tell better if the bird were standing on the ground and in a profile shot in clear lighting.

That is suspicious comb at 6 weeks, but it is still yellow and Rock pullets can be a bit precocious.

Post a better picture, and watch to see how this one develops. It may go either way.

Okay thank you! I will try again after work today. She is really hard to get a good picture of. She is always on the move !!

X 3 - one to watch, will be interesting to see how things look in an other couple of weeks.
