Currently in La; previously Ak, Hi, Ca
our 4 babies are now 3.5 weeks old, I know it’s early but with our light brahmas it was very obvious very early. Any thoughts? The upper left I’m pretty sure is a cockerel, bottom 2 pullets, but the upper right I’m on the fence. Thoughts? Ty

Way too early to sex. Brahmas sometimes don't give you clues until they're 10 weeks, because they're such slow maturing chickens. And you can't judge by how they grow in their feathers. Each individual will be different.

Give it a few more weeks and you will know for sure on all four. They mature slower, so feathers, etc aren't always an accurate way to tell. (coming from someone that had two surprise Brahma roos and one I SWORE was a roo and is definetly a hen)

Thanks. I figured, and yeah they feather very slow! I wanted to see if anyone had ideas though because the one looks SO much different, stands different, and is so heavy/ muscular compared to the other 3 which seem soft. From people that have experience with Buff Brahmas, does it look like a Buff Brahma? Coloring is the same, feathers on legs/ feet but no where near as many as the others. It’s just so different that part of me wondered if it was a mix up and slipped into the wrong shipment to TSC. Thanks

Also in your experience at what age do they start laying? Our light brahmas are now 6 months old and the roosters are definitely not crowing or attempting to mate and are so docile, the hen is getting mounted by our ameraucana roo, she too is very docile and the only hen that will not fight off the ameraucana roo. Thanks :)

My pullets began laying at 6 1/2 months. My roosters crowed a bit before that but not supper early. I honestly was wondering if they could crow for a bit...then they wouldn't shut up...LOL. All of your pictures above look like Buff Brahma chicks to me. I had three Buffs, two Darks, and two Lights. I rehomed a Buff rooster and a lost my Sunny as a chick (she was one of my Light Brahmas). Meringue (my Buff pullet) is petite and smaller than even the other pullets but she looks super small beside my rooster. I am getting 3-4 eggs most days from mine...wasn't expecting them to lay quite so many. I imagine during the heat of summer they will slow down. Keeping them cool is going to be a huge job I am sure....our summers are hot and humid...YUK. *They will all be a year old the end of July/beginning of August.*

The crew is 9 weeks old today. Their characteristics seem to be the same. The suspected Roo still acts so different and his feathers look different to me. The “Roo” is still half baby feathered and his hackles and saddle feathers look almost pointed? Does it start this early? The other 3 are definitely rounded, do Roos have rounded as babies? The 3 girly ones have tails coming big, the “Roo” still has a bald bun lol. Combs are a bit harder for me personally to tell but I tried to get good pictures. Our 7 month old light brahmas still are not laying but I remember their combs took quite a while to differentiate.
*‍♀️ I can never get the pictures to upload in order- 7 are the “Roo” and there are 3 of each of the other 3
