So I was wondering when pullets start to get their combs. I got my chicks at 2 days old last Saturday. Would make them about a week and 3 days. I was told they are all golden comet hens. What are the chances they gave me Roos? I know golden comet roosters are a white/yellow. I live in NYC I cannot legally have roosters, which is why I specifically chose a sex linked breed 😬

Agreed. They should all be pullets.😊
I’m curious, I have one that distinctly looks different. I don’t think anything at first because she was clearly the runt but as they are all getting bigger she still looks completely different

From that picture, nothing is standing out. She looks like the rest.
So the runt of my flock is feathering much much slower than the rest. The other 4 look almost identical, I can’t tell them apart, she’s the only one I know is different from the others. She also never had the same chipmunk looking stripes in her back, she was mostly reddish brown with thin cream stripes, where her sisters had thick cream stripes.

Maybe she’s not a different breed just very slow to develop? Although she’s feisty, the others try to pick on her and she def puts them in their place. In about 2 weeks it will be warm enough to transition them to their coop.

What if she is the only one who hasn’t lost all her baby fluff?

Def the same type. She's just feathering more slowly. It happens. She'll catch up. And males look very different.

Very cute!
Still looks so Different from the others and now tail feathers are growing curved up

She does look a bit different. But her comb is still small and the same color as the others. I don't see any male-specific feathering in these pics, either. I still say pullet.

Males of this hybrid look like this:
