Pullets Stopped Laying

What is the "right amount" of layer?
They should have free access all day long to feed.

Where do they "scavenge" if not free range?
Ah, I see, my neighbor (who also has chickens) informed me that I was overfeeding them and should therefore ration food. Since nothing else had been working, I decided to try that. Thank you for pointing out a huge flaw on my end, I'm going to correct that today.

As for scavenging, they are given protein snacks and mealworms scattered across their yard to encourage scratching.

I'd feed them nothing but layer ration for two weeks and see if that helps.

Good question.
Hello! I posted this about a month ago and really got no help, so I'm posting again. I have 2 pullets, less than a year old, I'd put them at about 10 months or so. They started laying in May/June and then completely stopped in July, August, and now September. We got one or two eggs every 3 days in August but that's stopped as well. I feed them layer, the right amount, and they scavenge all day + any veggie/fruit scraps from the kitchen. They eat well. They have ample amount of lighting as well. They are not moulting. They have no stress. I provide shade and cooling from the summer heat. Egg production just stopped for some reason and I'm not sure why. None of the hens before them ever behaved this way so I'm not quite sure what is going on. As I relied on my parents to help me get the chickens set up, my father sees this as a waste of money + yard use. Any help would be appreciated.
It appears that the egg production fell off after you started rationing their food. .Lack of fresh clean water daily can also cause them to stop laying .You can't feed or water them once or twice a day. They need access to both 24/7 .Your chickens may not be laying as expected is they don't have a dry place to sun bathe to control mites.

What does "ample amounts of lighting" mean?

My hens stopped laying a while back and was totally confused by it, they seemed heathly and happy I had checked for mites continuosly and was sure I didn't have any, whenever I cleaned the coop I checked everywhere and i also checked at night with a torch and there was no signs at all, however sure enough it was mites, I decided to spray the coop just incase as honestly couldnt find another reason for them to have stopped laying, and there they were crawling out of the crack's, since a proper clean and several sprays 1 month later my hens are laying again like clockwork. I would suggest if they are happy and healthy with no other reasons for no eggs it could very well be mites. Hope you get to the bottom of the problem xxxx

I have the same problem. None of my flock of 24 are laying. Been like this for maybe 3 - 4 months. No changes, no molting,They free range but 24 chickens are not laying their eggs elsewhere. And I have scoured the property. They are eating layer feed which they have all been on a long time half of the hens are pullets of laying age. We’ll see. I raise mealworms and they get plenty of them and they free range on property which is nature preserve so there is a lot of good eating out there.

during stressful situations when one hand was eaten by a fox, they are laying patterns didn’t change at all. There of been other things that were fairly major. Didn’t change their laying at all.

Maybe it’s that stuff they spray in the sky all day long. Who knows. Any help appreciated

Oh and zero mites. Everyone looks great. We’ve examined them all. No weight loss, behavior change,.. as to the pullets, the incumbent hens had stopped laying before they came.

O

I didn’t know you could have mites like that I thought if they had mites you could see them under their wings. Sounds like we might want to do what you did. What did you spray with? And how did you clean the coop? I’d like to know what condition the coop was in when the hens came back in at night
