Pullets won't use the roost

Your roosts seem narrow. They look as if they are made from strips of fiberboard or whatever they call those manufactured 4 by 8 sheets that resemble plywood. Chickens don't hold onto a perch like many other birds. They like to sit on top of it. That is why so many around here use 2 by 4s with the 4 inch side up.

The perches on the roost are 2x2. You are saying that chickens would prefer to sit on something 4 inch wide? We possibly could modify that on the roost.

Some of mine prefer 2x4 wide side up....some prefer 2x2.
You could easily screw a couple 2x4 on and see.
