This is fantastic. A credit to the store that obviously has an excellent employee training program AND a well-thought-out process in place. Not to mention super-nice display brooders! This is how chick's could and should be kept in a feed store. This is Shipton's in Billings, Mt. We were there waiting the day the chicks arrived last year. As each shipping box was opened, the identification label sticker was peeled off the box and stuck to the top of the water jug in the bin. Each chick was taken out of the container and looked over before it was handed to the person you see in the photo (there was another at the other end of the display not in the photo) for placement in the bin. When the last chick for that breed was in the bin, the label came off the water jug and was put on the front of the bin. This was repeated until all the chicks were under the lights. While they were doing this, another employee was matching the breed or variety stickers that were taken off the original shipping label to a handful of flyers she had. Only then did the identification and information sheet get taped to the bins. So if there were any mistakes in the identification of the chicks, it sure wasn't made by the staff of the store or by customers picking them up and putting them back in the wrong place.![]()
