pullorum testers.... i need help

hello.,.... I am driving myself insane...
I am a pullorum tester, so is my son...
we tested a chicken the other day who was a reactor 3 times.... two different wings and all within 15 seconds.... the agglutination was obvious... the entire spot was spotted and clumped and you coudl pick out that bird from every other test spot on the plate, all 3 times....
this family is very upset with me, that I "Must not be reading it right"...and some other tester told them it could be "misread"....
I know in my heart I did the right thing, but they are pushing the fact that a "more experienced" tester should have done the testing.... am I right to think that you really can NOT have an "opinion" on the test... it either clumps/spots up, or it doesnt...and any spotting has to be called as a reactor... ( and I mean this chicken clumped up all three times, 2 different wings, all within 15 seconds) I even showed the family the test plate, and even they agreed that they could see the difference.... I guess I just need someone to help ease my soul...... Its a terrible thing when you actualy have to make the call.... sigh

Your just doing your job. Honestly I wouldn't have been upset at all. If a tester found a sick bird in my flock I would want to know. I sure don't want to be responsible for selling/showing/raising sick birds or spreading a disease around. I'm assuming if you hadn't reported it and that one bird caused an outbreak, you could get in trouble. You did the right thing. That's why these tests are out there: to stop the spread of these diseases.

Does that mean that others could be positive in the area? I think you did fine. The owner should take responsibility that it happens and do the right thing and clean it up.
