Pullorum/typhoid Cure?

Can I ask how you know you have these diseases? In the year 2010 out of all the birds tested, there were only 4 chickens tested positive for s.pollorum in the US.

There is no cure, if you have tested positive for this disease you must send the birds in for necropsy to confirm since the test can have false positives.

If the necropsy confirms pullorum the rest of your flock tested over a period of time to see if they are clean.

pullorum is pullorum thyphoid

pips&peeps :

pullorum is pullorum thyphoid

They are actually two separate diseases.

Pullorum is caused by salmonella pullorum, (also known as salmonella gallinarum-pullorum)

Fowl Typhoid is caused by salmonella gallinarum

They are usually lumped together as pullorum-typhoid because the two are actually different biovars of s. gallinarum.

Where did you find that data? As far as I know s. gallinarum hasn't been detected in any NPIP monitored flocks since 1987 and there were no cases of s. pullorum reported in 2009 and 2010.

Well I wanted to show my birds at my local 4-H fair, in order to show them at the fair they have to be blood tested Avian influenza, Salmonella pullorum(typhoid) Rapid Plate and Tube tes well all my birds were negative but one turkey hen was suspicious for the salmonella pullorum (typhoid) The tube Test. Now the poultry tech that did the blood tests said that pennstates dept. had false testing. So Im not sure if my hen has it or not. But i was wondering if it did if there was a cure to fix her.

I went to get my certification for testing in the spring of 2011. The veterinarian that tought the class said there was only 4 cases of s. pollorum in the U.S. last year. I do not know if she just meant the backyard flocks or the commercial and backyard flocks.
