Pumpkin!!

Happy Halloween chicken lovers! It’s our flocks first Halloween so we decided to get them a pumpkin to munch on and they LOVE it! I’ve never seen them get so excited about something before, even if they were scared of it at first!




Did you get your birds anything special today?

No but I should have! Next year I will give them pumkin, this year I got one and plan to put it in my garden and grow it so I will have some next year. Next year they will have some pumpkin!

@Gray Farms I read about that! Not only is it tasty but it's good for them too!

Deworming...there are varying opinions on this subject and not much study has been done, (I have never had any trouble with worms or internal parasites in my flock), but

pumpkins are a great source of Vit A, Vit E, Vit C, antioxidants, lutein and betacarotene.

I collect literally dozens of discarded pumpkins this time of year and pile them in the run.

What the birds do not consume, free choice, decomposes nicely in the deep litter run.
